I'm pretty new to home brewing having done about 4 kids so far. Recently did a Mangrove Jack's hopped cider and there pink Grapefruit IPA.

I'm just about to brew mangrove jack's gold lager, I only have 1kg of light spraymalt at home but heard it can give a lower abv then using LME or dextrose.
Could I had caster sugar or granulated sugar to bump up the abv a little with giving off flavours. And if so home much would be a good amount to add. Or while I hold off and place order from more dextrose etc...

Excellent, was going to chance 500g but I'll up it to 600g. Just waiting for the little one to get back from school. She wouldn't be happy with I made some beer without her, she is old gone 5 too 🤣

Only think is she wants to drink it too, she loves drink the left over in the tube from taking hydrometer readings and is pretty found of sours.
She will check the fermenter every night before she goes to bed or check to see if the bottles are going ok when carbing

My girls were well versed in the use of a bottle opener and pouring when they were young. Sadly they have both grown up and pour beer for their respective other halves. Enjoy it while you can.
Have you not got any grandchildren to train up?
Perhaps they subscribe to the philosphy: "There's two things in life, son: beer and women. The other's ok when you can't get the real thing!"

A grand daughter, but she's not yet 2 so a bit young for training.

Just got around to bottling the MJ golden lager. Ended up 14 days in the fermenter, due to work. Used the 1kg of spraymalt and 600g of caster sugar and at constant 21°C .Tastes pretty good out of the sample jar and an ABV of 4.988% happy with that.
