Did this kit last Aug! Based on the online reviews and left it kegged… it tasted very alcoholly when first tested and 15 months later its not really improved. Not at all smooth or balanced it’s a definite thumbs down from me, along with a massive disappointment as I was hoping to make it my Christmas showcase brew… it’s so bad it may end up don the drain and that will be a first for me 😔

That's a long time to wait to just pour it down the drain. Sounds like far too long. I once made a Brewferm Belgian Tripple that said to wait 6 months for. It was fine after 4 months, better at 5 and better still at 6. But I was stupid to listen to someone that told me to wait 9 months. At 9 months it was garbage. About 15 pints worth wasted.

I had considered making one of these but it doesn't sound so good now.

Never really made any kits above about 7% ABV, mostly as there aren't many, wonder if trying to make something high alcohol just from malt extract is not going to work well. I'm think of that thing we don't talk about on here making "w*shes" from sugar water and activated charcoal has to be added to get rid of funny flavours 😉

That's a shame. I made one back in July for a Christmas brew, all bottled. I tried one about 2 weeks in (as it was a 2/3 bottle) which was way better than I'd hoped at that stage.
Tried another one a couple of weeks back, and it had lost a bit of the dry hop complexity, but still had a lovely bitter coffee/cocoa finish.

You've given me the excuse to try another at the weekend :)

There’s loads of positive reviews on it, so not sure how mines turned out so bad tbh..
