Why all the hate for Hobgoblin?!
Old Speckled Hen and Hobgoblin
:nono::nono:
Yeah, there's a sort of sulphur note in the beer, isn't there? I've always thought it tasted like dishwater smells.
Nowt wrong with it - just isn't anything more than 'ordinary'.
That's it on the nose - it's the ale equivalent of Kronenbourg (almost said Carling, but that's not really fair), inoffensive, gets the job done but really you can do so much better if you just look around.
I donââ¬â¢t actually mind Kronenbourg. I wouldnââ¬â¢t choose it now if there were better beers on tap, but if Iââ¬â¢m somewhere that doesnââ¬â¢t have much of a selection on tap itââ¬â¢s fine. Like you say gets the job done [emoji23]
Doom Bar is the beer that people who aren't really interested in beer will drink. Sharpe's do some crackers like Atlantic, Sea Fury and Wolf Rock but their flagship ale is a lowest-common-denominator affair.
But the one beer that I really hate is Brewdog Hardcore IPA. Iââ¬â¢m generally a fan of their beers (and at the absolute worst I respect their business practices) but I canââ¬â¢t bring myself to drink it. I got a couple of bottles in the last round of Mystery Boxes and I just canââ¬â¢t face the second one.
