Hello I need to use some finings to help clear a fruit juice Rose wine kit I have clouding away in a Demi jar, which has finished fermenting now.
My wife has taken my shopping list to the home brew shop and brought beer finings, is there a difference, and wil beer finings be suitable to use inthe wine?

There are several really good ones on the market like 'Clear-it' and 'Kwik Clear' that clear mostly overnight, but leaving it a week will make it really crystal, it only needs 1ml of each so you do need a 1-2 ml syringe, local chemist maybe, (SWMBO works in a Docs' surgery, so I'm not too sure on that.)

A word of warning, if you don't make a lot of wine don't get the "Clear it" as Gorty says it does a good job but it has to be binned a month after opening, KwiK Clear doesn't and that's the reason i have been using it for most of the time i have been wine making.

You can buy syringes at the chemist. :thumb:

Thanks Chippy, I've been using 'Clear-it' for a while, but I was making wine regularly. Over Christmas I concentrated on drinking it rather than making it! I did wonder why this last batch hadn't cleared as quick as it used to.
A change to 'KwiK Clear' might be in order!

just put an order on for the large up to 270 ltr of the kwik clear and only £5.50 posted im impressed with the price

got 7 gallons of wine waiting for it to clear

Thanks, my local boots chemist has sold home brew stuff for ages and we have just found out they are now also selling kits, we have ordered a couple of WineBuddy Sav Blanc 30 bottle kits and Mrs Tea is going in tomorrow to find out if they can get a regular supply of KwiK Clear on the shelf, if its a no go i will get it off ebay.

DOH, i got the wrong one its a small chain of local chemists which apparently have sold HB stuff for many years, probably carried on when boots finished.

Well the vendors have noticed their mistake, the price is now £4.35 + £2.50 P&P, £6.85 ... stil cheaper than some.
