hello chaps and chappets

I have been away a while after being doomed for space for homebrew :nono: tomorrow i am going to make my first batch of the year! i am going to be using Geordie range as my local wilko keeps these well stocked up possibly even Youngs.

something i want to experiment with though is beer kit enhancers however i am confused with if the enhancer acts as a fermentable sugar. i am going to use a Geordie enhancer as its the only one stocked locally i can get my hands on it boasts on the packet about giving a better body and aiding first fermentation but does not say the magic words "use this as a replacement brewing sugar" lol

can i just slap 1kg of the enhancer and leave it for a week to return to a beer ready for kegging or do i need add half and half of enhancer and brewing sugar

Yep. Brewing sugar is pure sugar that doesnt leave a bad taste, ie less refined caster sugar is not as good. Kit enhancer is 50/50 brewing sugar and dry malt extract, it boosts abv without drying the beer out or adding too much body, and doesnt affect the bitterness of the hops :-)

Some also contain maltodextrin to add more mouth feel. You are 100% ok to use it in place of brew sugar, its actually preferable to it. Good luck let us know how u get on! :-)
