Beer / Brewery history books

I've just finished Anthony Avis' 'The Brewers Tale' and quite enjoyed it. Obviously, I've got Ron Pattinsons many beer history books to buy and chomp through, but has anyone got any other recommendations? I'm not after brewing technique / recipe books as such, more historical ones.

Not sure how many books they have, however one of the members from a homebrew club I attend, often mentions The Durden Park Beer Circle. They may however be recipe books.

Pete Brown is a very popular beer author.

Small, specialist publications may be available on specific brewing towns, breweries etc and it may be worth checking out the members of the British Guild of Beer writers. https://www.beerguild.co.uk/

On the technical front , Cambridge University Press re issued A Chaston Chapman's Brewing a few years back ( I picked a copy up on't ebay ; and if you request it at your local library , H .S Corran's History of Brewing is pretty good ,published by David & Charles I think somewhere around 1978 ?

Thanks for all the replies ~ I've just ordered a second hand Martyn Cornell book from amazon, and am looking for some of the other authors mentioned in second hand bookshops.

Martin Cornell is just the ticket - Just getting through his "Amber, Gold & Black" and it's been quite an eye-opener. No recipes, all history (old and quite recent history too) - just what you want?

I've got hold of 'Beer - The Story of the Pint'. I'm just getting into it. I'll keep an eye out for Amber, Gold & Black.
