Great response from Adam at Linden Street Brewing Co http://www.lindenbeer.com/

and this is the alternative to Anchor Steam, but also an historic beer that fuelled the Gold Rush

" Hi Willie,

Thanks for the kind words! As someone who's grown up in the Bay Area, and knows what 14th and Market looked like when you were here, I can tell you that things are definitely looking up around here! Hopefully you will make it back sometime and I will be able to pour you a beer.

My recipes are pretty simple-

Urban People's Common Lager
OG 1.054
FG. 1.012
39 IBU
70% Pale
10% Vienna
10% Light Munich
10% Carahell (Simpsons Lt Caramalt works too)
Northern Brewers @ 15 and 45mins of 60 min boil)
Ferment at 55-57degF

Burning Oak Black Lager
OG 1.052
FG 1.011
19 IBU
75% Pale
10% Dark Munich
10% Caramunich3
5% Carafa3 (de-husked)
Northern Brewers @ 15 and 45 mins of 60 min boil
Ferment at 57-59degF

As you can see, we are a single hop brewery. So, there's lots of room to play on that front!

Good luck, and thanks again for reaching out!

Wow, what a thoroughly nice chap! I've said it before - they have a pretty good scene over there, especially in California. They love "Pliny the Elder" as well - it's all you hear about on the Brewing Network. I really want to brew a double IPA now!
