simple recipe
not quite nice but a total beginning to the world of home brew
i will /am trying to make a drinkable hooch prison style of alcohol

water,yeast and sugar

but i am going to only make 1 Litre of this stuff because im guessing it will not be very nice

but the question is ...after the ten days of resting
could i add some "finishing hops" to make the above into a drink that tastes like beer/lager ????
if so how much "hops" would i need for this one litre drink

also should i buy a special tablet thing to get rid off the cloudy apperence it may have ???

what can i do to make 1 litre of drinkable alcohol ??? :drink:

Hi there.

You couldn't add finishing hops to it no, but what you're suggesting is called dry hopping. It won't taste anything like a beer to be honest, and is very unlikely to be close to drinkable. I think even in prison they use fruit juices as well as a lot of sugar, so even the most needy of inmates is unlikely to even chuck you off for a pint of this.

If you want to start off simple, I'd recommend a 5 litre batch of extract brewing. You would use something called Dry Malt Extract (DME) as a substitute for sugar. This essentially is sugar, produced from grains. You can use hops properly then and do it all on your stove. You can just use an empty 5L water bottle to ferment in. Nice and easy.

I would personally just use a beer kit to get started. Pretty cheap and you can make a nice beer very easily and learn alot about the process before jumping in too far. That's how the majority of brewers start I think. Another alternative is making something called a turbo cider. This is just Apple juice and a few other bits in a demijohn (or empty 5l water bottle) with yeast added. Again, very easy.
