barrel top question

Hi people, just been given 2 Boots pressure barrels but I havnt seen this cap type before.

Are they any good ,can I use a co2 pressurizing device with these, can use them as they are to store/ serve beer from?

Hello Sudbasher,
I have an old Boots bottom tap PB that i use. I don't recognise your cap. I recently tried replacing my cap because it had a crack in it. All new caps had a different sized thread and would not fit. I fixed the crack with a screwdriver made red hot on the gas stove. What does your cap look like from the top? It may shed more light.

I forgot to say, the crack was made by me when i drilled the hole to fit the gas valve(s30 i think)

I'm thinkin it's just a cap with a pressure relief valve. I'd personally try and adapt it so you can get some co2 in it.

I,ve been given three of them ,the date on them is 1985,but their like new .

Just wondered if anyone had used them and how airtight they were,the little spring loaded pressure valve has an o ring which is a good tight fit,

Just wondered if they can be used to bulk store beer or wine .
