I have obtained an ATC-800+ controller which I intend to use with Terrarium heating mats and a Cornelius Maxi 110 cooler to regulate the fermentation of my brews.

My question is regarding the fitted sensor with the ATC-800+. I want to fit a thermowell to my vessel for the temperature reading and I wondered if it would be okay to just slide the short plastic probe into it and cap up the end with cotton wool. Alternatively, would it be better to replace the current NTP probe (if they can be replaced) with a more robust metal probe which can be screwed into the outer thread on the thermowell?

I’d appreciate any ideas, suggestions, or tips from anyone already using an ATC-800+ with a thermowell.

Thanks, in-anticipation

Southern Temperature Sensors Make NTC sensors in Stainless steel which negate teh requirement of a thermowell ;) . . .Pm the member on here called STS ;)

Hi Aleman, Thanks for the tip. Do you think STS will know if it is possible to replace the current probe on the ATC-800? If I won't need a thermowell will I still be using the hole I already have in my vessel for the NTC Sensor, or will I need to 'blank' it? Apologies if the questions seem simple, I'm new to this stuff. Cheers
