Hello,

just starting out on my first brew ever, got the basic kit and looking for a recipe for "Arran ale - blonde" or "Duchy original ale, the 5% one" I like these two and want some thing similar, can anyone recommend the likely hops and grains

thanks

Hi BG,

I've tried both of those beers but can't recollect any info on the labels. A standard pale at 5% is fairly easy to do, but to narrow down to a clone brew, you need an idea of hops/malt used, as you've already said.
The Duchy ale uses a malted Barley which you simply won't be able to get, and if it has a profound impact on the taste, you're on a hiding to nothing. I suspect it doesn't, but you never know.

Judging by this 'grassy suggests Fuggles, herbal I'm not sure, citrus possibly styrian golding or cascade (common hops for this purpose). Wheatbeer perfume and creaminess suggest wheat malt to me, caramel..possibly choice of yeast.
Sorry I can't be of more help, I hope someone else may be able to give more of an insight.
