This is the feed back on the beer. I will post the recipe when I get a chance
Aroma Score (12) 10
Quite restrained but some nice toffee flavours coming through
Appearance Score (3) 2
A dark red colour, a good lacing on the glass and a rocky head
Flavour Score (20) 18
Toffee notes come through really well, some slight coffee notes too but overall the flavours are really well balanced and clean. My only criticism is the flavour is a bit subdued.
Mouthfeel Score (5) 4
Nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel. It doesn't let on to the 7% ABV
Overall Impression Score(10) 8
A great well rounded beer which has been brewed well. Doesn't let on it's higher ABV and is incredibly clean. Very much to style.
Total Score (50) 42
Thanks!
I really enjoyed that one. Well deserved winner. My doppelbock is on
4kg dark Munich
2.5kg red X
300g Melanoidin
200g Cara aroma
50g carafa 3
Probably use Perle hops for bittering.
That's basically from the forum. The redx was just to use it up.
I used wyeast Czech 2278.
I have shared this with @dave_77 & @Donegal john . I have a few to send out this week as well. I seen @Hazelwood Brewery made one and I fancied the sound of it. First time brewing a doppelbock and I have never tasted a commercial version.
Thanks again
Well done @samale and @NPi well deserved and of course to @jceg316 for his time effort and detailed feedback
Here is mine for my Bavarian Pilsner
Aroma Score (12) 8
Sweet, grainy, slight sulphur, quite strong banana aroma coming though
Appearance Score (3) 1.5
A good golden colour, but a bit too hazy
Flavour Score (20) 18
Really nice flavour, grainy, bready, very clean flavour with some slight sulphur aftertaste. It lacks that crisp bitterness which makes Bavarian pilsners such a unique style.
Mouthfeel Score (5) 4
Very smooth, good level of carbonation.
Overall Impression Score(10) 7
It's a great session beer and I can see myself drinking quite a few of these. It lacks a crisp bitterness to make this a stand out example of the style, but was a pleasure nonetheless
Total Score (50) 38.5
Thanks.
I will of course post the recipe if anyone is interested
