Ceylon tea is fab... sweetener tablet I'm not so sure about.

When I stay at the Mount Lavinia Hotel in Colombo, they do a fantastic curry breakfast, goes well with good Ceylon tea.

I can't have sugar, type 2 diabetic.... Can't quite drink it without anything to sweeten it just a tiny bit... lol

Puro milk was tremendous in tea but I don’t think you can get it anymore.

The best ever Chai I tasted was on an Indian Drillship called the Sagar Bushan (Jewel of the Sea) ***** that I was (and still am) I didn't get a recipe for it but I saw the cook making it one day and he seemed to be pouring the stuff from one jug to another from great height.

Apparently, this was in order to get the spices to mix properly but I do know my own limitations and all I could see me creating was a huge mess on the kitchen floor if I ever tried to emulate him.

There are loads of recipes on t'Internet but I like this one because it has the heat of fresh Ginger and Peppercorns in it ...

BTW, the catering crew on the Drillship were all from the Kerala area, which is noted for its "spicy" cuisine. One day I picked out of the morning Pakora a piece of what I thought was spiced cauliflower in batter. It was shaped a bit like a Birds-Eye chilli and guess what? It was a Birds-Eye Chilli with a coating of batter!

All I can say is that it was no hotter than you would expect a Birds-Eye Chilli to be!

Best curry I've ever had was in Sri Lanka - it was some really scabby looking place in Kandy but I still went there every day. :-)

No didn't go up Adam's peak, it looks so exhausting. Some of the small rural eating places are excellent for good food. The wife is Sri Lankan, she knocks up a blinding curry.

I think one of the best moments I had while I was there was meeting the Sri Lankan Elvis - he let me stay at his place for a few days. It was... interesting. :-)
