My daughter's off to a wedding in Northern Ireland in a few days and is staying in Derry. She's booked an extra day for a look around. Any recommendations? Decent hostelries, feeding places, unmissable local sites? I understand there are city walls, are they worth walking around?

TIA...

Not from Derry but I am up there a few times a year. The blackbird bar is nice and has a large beer selection. It's also right beside the bus station, if that is needed. Guild hall tap house is another one with more than just the bog standard range. The Anchor bar is quaint and is possibly the only bar in Derry that sells Beamish (£4).

There are quite a few pubs on Waterloo Street if she fancies a crawl. They are basically all beside each other.

Sandino's is another pub I'd drop my head into for a pint of G.

I did the wall walk over 20 years ago. Tbh, I am struggling to remember it.

There are a couple of Derry lads on here that could give some better info than me.
