Hi all,

Ok my Wherry has been in bottles for around 2 weeks now and is just beginning to get a little fizz in it.

I had a few last night and it tastes alot better now than it did a day after bottling (obviousely) but it does seem a bit on the sweet side!

Is Wherry known to be a sweet beer or is it just that the priming sugar in the bottle still needs time to ferment out?

Thanks

Andy

i found it took at least 6 weeks till it was spot on
not that sweet but what is sweet to one is not as sweet to another

hang in there it will be fine
in th emean time get another brew on

Thanks Tich,

It's not overly sweet but it does have a sweetish thickness to it (if you know what i mean)

I am thinking of getting another brew on but will have nowhere to store it once it's done no bottles/barrel (etc) so im a little stuck at the moment until i can release some more funds from the OH's purse

i found mine very sweet after only a couple of weeks but after 6 weeks it was a lovely pint

I'll have to try and stop drinking it then, i only have around 15 pints left

It is very nice though, not sure but i may see about doing a geordies scotish export next, it's got really good reviews and it's less than a tenner but i'll buy a pressure barrel/keg for that one!

I'll deffinately be doing another Wherry though, and will be bottling that in the way too quickly emptying bottles that have the current Wherry in.

Andy

You've only 15 pints left and its only been in the bottles for 2 weeks? You need to hide a few to avoid temptation.

I have done four kits now including the Wherry...

The best bit of advice I can give you is wait at least six weeks before starting to drink them... By all means give them a taste but leave the bulk till at least six weeks...

All my kits have been much improved after at least six weeks...

Update,

I have 6 bottles left

I'll have to get another brew going me thinks

i have a wherry on the go and has been fermenting for 10 days. down from 1.034 to 1.008 and going to leave it in FV for another few days as prefer my beers to be 4.5% +

I have 12 spare wine bottles and will put the rest in a plastic keg. really looking forward to this one after reading the positive reviews on this site

I have another 20 bottles of tom claxton bitter that's going down a treat at the moment and plan to get another wherry on the go as soon as those bottles are spare!

a few people on here have said that but i've personally never had a problem. my dad and brother have always used wine bottles and never had a problem either
