I was wondering when people added gypsum or calcium chloride to their liquor, pre mash I assume? But do you avoid boiling it?
The other thing I was wondering was can you add some to the batch priming bucket pre bottling?

I add gypsum to the mash water, and more gypsum before the boil is reached. I don't think anyone adds it to the bottling bucket. It plays a role in the mash and in the boil.

Ah ok, I read somewhere that you can knock up a few mml's of either gypsum or calcium chloride solution in a beaker and add at the rates of one drop between tastings to see the effect... I was wondering if I could add to the batch priming bucket to correct then.

I add a specific amount to the mash, a specific amount to the wort, and if I don't get a decent hot break, maybe some more at the rolling boil point. Never after that. It is pretty much salt and chalk, wouldn't want that in my fv without it having been dissolved by the boil.
