Hi everyone..
I have been brewing wine kits for about 3 years now and recently I have branched out and started making wine from scratch. My first attempt, last year was sloe gin, using gin. I then used the pulp to make Sloe wine. This wine turned out OK but very dry, a bottle of this sent me to sleep very quickly.
Around the same time I found the Sloe tree in a head row I found an Apple tree with a load of gnarly looking apples on it. I picked a load of them and made apple wine. This did not turn out quite the way I had hoped for. It did not really fully ferment as it was very sweet. More like an apple schnapps but it was unsurprisingly strong all the same, it was best served ice cold strait from the freezer.
This year I am trying to make wine with elderflower cordial, 750ml of cordial and 500g of sugar per demijohn X 2. That was last week, today I will start two more demijohns this time with cranberry cordial but only 500ml but still 500g of sugar.
I have just got to wait a few month to see how it turns out.
The cordial was a product of Belvoir Fruit Farm. Has anyone made wine with this cordial? Was I drinkable? This is the start of many questions I will no donât be asking in the future.
Regards
