Is it possible to make an American wheat beer (using an ale yeast) that doesn't have a chill haze?

wheat is inherintly cloudy, but maybe you could tone down the wheat enough so it won't cloud up? i'm not sure how much that would be...not sure if there's a way to drop the haze out though!

but then, what are you after exactly if you don't want a cloudy wheat beer? isn't that just basically a regular barley beer? :P

Some German breweries make a Kristallweissen, a filtered and clear wheat beer. I don't know how it's filtered though, but they are out there.

One can make a pretty much haze free wheat beer without filtration. One can do this by having a prolonged protein rest (113-131°F/45-55°C).

Normally a protein rest of more than 15-20 minutes can be detrimental to a beer's head but with wheat beers that generally is not a problem. Try a protein rest for 30-45 minutes and see how the beer comes out.
