I would say 1014.

You take the reading from the level water line not the bit that rises up the tube ;)

bugger...then my brew is not 3.7% but 3.4% i might as well rename it 'mead'..its nelsons revenge and i think it was supposed to be 4.5%..made it up to the letter

NR was my last brew, Wherry before that.
Leave it in the FV for a bit longet it may still be fermenting slowwwwwly ;)

tempted to give it a stir and back on the heat tray :hmm:

The insructions on my hydrometer told me to read from the top water level where it climbs up the hydrometer a bit. Since joining i have been reading from the bottom of the meniscus but does it really matter, as long as you always use the same point will you not get the same ABV?

:hmm: You could be right there, but thats not the way it should be done.

Most "proper" hydrometers should be read at the level point, but there are a few (such as the one supplied in the Coopers starter kit IIRC, mine's in the bin) which are designed to be read at the top of the meniscus clinging to the hydro.

There's a good video by Craigtube on YouTube which covers how to use these useful little gadgets.
