Air Lock Question

Hey all,

I am brewing my first ever mexican cerveza, currently on the primary fermentation.

The airlock is filled with water, yet i have seen some strange behaviour. Now im new at this but the airlock top popping off doesnt seem right to me? When I come home from work I see the water is minimal in the airlock so today i decided to fill it up, yet an hour later the top popped off......

Using the mexican cerveza kit, with coopers brew enhancer 2.

any ideas??

is it 1 piece like a sideways S shape or a 2 piece one that can be taken apart

are you overfilling the airlock ?

its ok ours does the same its just the pressure knocking it off. Cover the airlock top with foil it will be fine

you could always change the airlock for a length of hose going into a pop bottle of water

its a 2 piece. How much water should be in it?? I filled to the top, after an hour or so its about 1 5th full.

I never fill to the top, I do about a third full.

fill it so that when you drop the second part in the two water levels meet, it should only take a little water, if you fill it right to the top it wont really bubble and the top can hit the ceiling.
