decided my AG1 was a bit strong at 6.5% (1057-1012ish) :drunk: its all bottled now, 45 bottles of the stuff!) so made again using:-

6Kg marris otter
250g torrified wheat
mash 66 deg for 60 mins
boil 90 mins
kent goldings 5.4% AA. 50g 90 mins 50g 15 mins (should be much less bitter but with more aroma?)
1KG honey 15 mins

made about 30L out of it so should be more like 4.5%

much fiercer boil this time, nearly boiled over in 100L pot  , noticed grey stuff stuck all over the sides and lid of the copper, which i assume was hot break, but only after 20 mins of 4.4kw boiling

not noticed much of a cold break but ive been siphoning off, so maybe getting it in my beer...

really cant wait to taste AG1, just hope its nice!!!

This recipie is terriffic. I have brewed it a number of times, it won at a local beer festival, tastes quite dry with a lasting taste from the goldings, these match the honey beautifully. Quick tip though, if you bottle it, add 3/4 teaspoon of sugar to each 500 bottle, after conditioning for 2 weeks put them into fridge, this is the first real ale/ home brew that i have had that has been improved by chilling

put about half tsp in these, and there in the warm now for 5-10days, then condition for 2 weeks, then put in fridge?

by the way it was your recipe what inspired me!

For 25L

5 kg of maris otter
250g of torrified wheat
50g of amber malt
50g of chocolate malt

then challenger hops for bittering 12g, 19g, 90 mins and 60 mins, 19g again at 30mins

20g of cascade last 15 mins and further 20g of cascade to steep

comes out well
