Planning my first brew since 2013! This is a fairly simple Best Bitter (BJCP Style 11B) showcasing Bramling Cross hops:

23L brew:

Maris Otter Pale - 91%
Crystal Medium - 7%
Wheat Malt - 2%
- Mash for 60m at 68C

Bramling X - 29g @ 60m
Bramling X - 25g @ 30m
Fuggles - 16g @ 0m

WLP013 Yeast, 0.7l starter - ferment at 19C in temp controlled brew fridge.

Aiming for brew on Saturday 29th June, but some work to do testing the brew equipment first as it's been a while..... I'll keep you posted!

Good luck to you! I came back to brewing about four years ago after also taking a fair few years' hiatus - in my case due to practicality reasons.

However, I really worked on optimising my equipment and process the second time round, with the upshot that I now get much more out of it than I used to, in terms of both quality and enjoyment.

I used to approach a brew day with both excitement and trepidation, whereas it's now just excitement 🙂

Thanks, tigertim! I’m hoping with a bit of an upgrade to kit this time round that I can be learn more about the process and be able to control things with a lot more accuracy. Feeling a little nervous about the first one, but very excited! Just need to get through this one to know the kit and nail down the routine and prep, I think 👍🏻
