Hey guys :thumb: ,

To be blunt, I need to know what I'm missing exactly to start AG brewing!

I've heard conflicting stories of what I need, my friend says he never used a mashtun and just boiled, some people say all I need is a decent boiler, some guys here have suggested I need both!

This is what I have currently:

2x Fermentation Vessells (no taps)
1x Fermentation Bin (with tap)
1x Syphon
1x Hydrometer and Jar
Fast Action Wine Yeast
Sterilizing Powder
Citric Acid
Campden Tablets
Big Stiring Spoon

What do you recommend I need on top of what I already have? Excluding all the hops and ingredients :D

I hope I'm half way there!!

Cheers  ,

Well you'll need a boiler and a mash tun, both of which can be made easily enough if you're any way good with your hands. Or you could ask around the forum, i think you could be surprised how much stuff members have lying around since the latest out brake of the deadly H4NSHINY bug

I am also New to AG Brewing...The best advice I can give....is don't rush into it.. Like I did
I bought the plastic boilers/buckets and Cool Box and sparger...I was so impressd with the quality of my Beers that in no time at all 23 litres had gone!! I realised that I had to brew a bigger quantity and so I sold the Coolbox and bought myself an 80 Ltr Shiny !!

My 2 x 25 Litre HLT's are not really adequate now and I shall have to replace them next year and buy myself a 70 Ltr Shiny HLT and 70 Ltr Boiler

The shiny's are more expensive..but believe me they are fantastic :D Knowing what I know now I would not have bought the coolbox or plastic boilers...I would have saved up and gone for the shiny's ;)

That's my advice for what its worth...Good luck : :thumb:

Good point HM but i think it may be a good investment not to jump into the shiny to soon as it is just a hobby and some don't want to jump right in there at first. I think most brewers you ask have done the same as HM to start and some of those got stuff on free cycle where people had given up the hobby. Sorry to rabbit on, my advice is spend what you feel comfortable with spending and if in the future you feel the need to upgrade/down grade then go right ahead ;)
