AG Brew Buddy needed

I'm looking to convert from extract to AG after Christmas,and I'm a virgin well in AG terms anyway.I'd really appreciate watchinmg someone do an AG brew before I rush into it and make cockups.I live in Silkstone near Barnsley,and can travel anywhere in a reasonable radius (10-20 miles).All help very much appreciated.

I'd offer but me thinks Orkney might burst your distance radius.
Hope you find help but don't be too worried about trying. There are many pictures of AG brew days that should help.

I'm way out of your distance but thought I'd add my 2p. I was a little worried about cock ups when it came to AG brewing. After a couple of days of looking about and reading the tutorials I thought balls to it, built my equipment and ordered some grain, hops and yeast. On my first brew my boiler cut out half way through (forgot to remove the safety cut out switches) but I didn't see the point in panicking and it turned out fine. Honestly it isn't as hard as it looks and it's really satisfying when you get the end result. My advice to you would be do some reading and jump in the deep end. Don't panic what ever you do, think logically and follow the 7 P's - proper planning and preparation prevents **** poor performance - it's easy!

I'm not too far away, but a brewday is 5 hours in total. The bits that you need to see are the setting up, sparge and chill. From there its just the same as a kit out of a tin. I got my tutorials from You tube! Some of the american homebrewers take it really seriously indeed

As other posters have stated, its easy really, once you have your first one out of the way it gets easier and easier.

If you want to meet up, I do not have a problem to walk you through the process, you will find that everyone on here are very supportive and a mine of info.

Throw yourself into the darkside and amaze yourself in the most rewarding hobby in the world

I think everyone has answered your questions, but like i did 11 months ago, read every post and every how-to on this forum, buy/make your kit, watch a few youtube vids and away you go. Keep it simple and you'll be very proud of your first brew.

Your more than welcome to come and watch me brew too, but i normally brew into the night, and living in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire i might be a little too far for you as well :wha:

It is all a bit nerve racking the first one. I'm only 4 brews in and already it's getting more relaxed.
You can't mess up your first one as bad as I did. I was doing great up until 20 mins into the mash, when I realised I hadn't put the strainer in the bottom of the tun. :idea: No worries, I thought, I'll decant into my fermenter, put the strainer in the tun and then pour it all back in, not ideal but it could work. Unfortunately the handle cam of my tun and I poured 10 litres of mash all over my garage floor , man thats some sticky stuff.

You'll love it once you get going, it's a proud moment when your supping your first brew. :drink:
