Making the most of the WLP4 from last weeks Guinness brew I decided to do follow it up this weekend with the famous Effin Oatmeal Stout. Aimed for the usual 23L but ended up with 25L. Brewed the recipe to 75% efficiency but again getting higher (but at least consistent, finally) efficiency. Thought I'd toast the oats to add a bit more flavour so gave them 20 minutes in the oven mixing every 5 minutes as they were quite a thick layer when spread on the baking tray. I was tempted to keep toasting but they ended up a nice golden brown and I got bored of taking them in and out the oven. So again recipe adjusted to show my result. Doesn't mention the oat beta-glucan rest but that went fine.

I always listen to music while brewing and it is a feature of every brew day so I've decided to start including it in my reports. This weeks brew was supported by the musical stylings of the Beastie Boys. No particular album just all the classics.

Dropped it on to the AG#5 trub earlier today. I have 25L of fresh wort in a 23L youngs FV mixed with the trub....I'm expecting my first escaped brew.

Looking forward to a Guinness vs Effin Oatmeal taste comparison :drink: :drink:
