On a pleasant trip to the pub a few months ago I sampled my first and only pint of Greene King Old Golden Hen and was really impressed, particularly with the fresh and fruity hop flavour, and decided I would have to make something in that kind of genre. I read on their website that they use Galaxy hops in the brew so I got some of those and thought I'd see what I could come up with for the rest although a little more 'homebrew' strength! Galaxy hops smell so fruity and interesting from the packet and are so sticky they simply must be good!

Grains used:
5kg Maris Otter
0.2kg Crystal - 150EBC
0.1kg Pale Wheat malt

Hops:
90 mins - 30g Challenger (8.5% AA)
15 mins - 20g Galaxy (13.9% AA)
Flameout - 20g Galaxy

Yeast is S-04

Beersmith gives values of 1048 OG, 13.7 EBG and 38 IBUs for 23 litres into the FV.

I can't seem to post Flikr pictures so here's the links instead...

Beer is just cooling now, then I can measure the actual OG and then pitch the yeast. Good day had so far!
