Did a number 2 AG yesterday, sorry no pics as still trying to get everything right :D

It started out as Wheelers Pendle Witch clone but then I started fiddling and came up with the following:

KENDAL WHICH?
Brew Length: 25 litres
Target SG : 1047
Target FG : 1012
IBU : 32
Colour : 23
Target ABV : 4.6%
PreBoil SG : 1037

4.7kg Crisp Pale (78.3%)
0.6kg Crystal 60L (10%)
0.4kg Biscuit Malt (6.7%)
0.3kg Torrefied Wheat (5%)

25g Fuggles for 90 mins
15g Fuggles for 60 mins
15g Challenger for 60 mins
10g Fuggles for 10 mins
10g Challenger for 10 mins

2x Whirlfloc Tablets
2x rehydrated Nottingham yeast

Mashed for 90 mins - starting off at 68.9 and ending at 67 - strike temp was too high as grain and mashtun were already warm after being in the house for 24 hours so am expecting quite a long fermenter and a fairly sweet full bodied beer.

38l pre boil at SG of 1036 compared to target of 1037.

Struggled a little bit with the boil again which took around 50 mins to actually get to a fairly tame rolling boil which probably didnt have as much boil off as predicted, therefore post boil SG was low at only 1042 compared to the target 1047, i added a bit of EL DME to get the SG to 1045 then called it a day. I got 26l into the fermenter, more than expected due to less boil off.

Copper wort chiller did a great job again and cooled from 100 to 30 degrees in 20 minutes.

Rehydrated 2 packs of Notty yeast and pitched.

Started fermenting quickly and has big lobs of proteins floating around in the FV which i am hoping will settle out

Overall a much more relaxed version of AG1 which i thoroughly enjoyed - just need a better way of boiling my wort :wha:

I used 2 whirlflocs as my first AG is struggling to clear when i used one tab.

I used 2 Nottinghams as it recommends 1g per litre of Wort and the packets are 11.5g - at least thats what i think the instructions where saying, as i was doing 26l i though two would be preferable?? :wha:

One sachet would have been enough to be fair. It won't harm anything putting two in, just a waste.

I'd be surprised if it was down to insufficient finings in your first AG which resulted in cloudy beer, half of a tablet is usually enough for a 23l brew.

You never know though, it may turn out as clear as glass with two tabs!
