And maybe some later addition flavour hops (say 10-15 mins from end of boil). Apart from that, all good :thumb:

Ive only got Fuggles & E.K Goldings so couldnt see the point in adding them again at the end. Should I add a little of one or both for last 15 bearing in mind I dont like my beers too bitter.

I would move the 25g of golding to 15 minutes (15g) and Steep (10g)

The recipe as you have it is balanced toward bittering GU:BU (47:42 ~1.12) whereas ideally (as you don't like bitter beers) you would ideally aim for an IBU of something no higher than 0.75 ~31 IBU

Thanks Aleman (forum ninja  ) I will change recipe acordingly and will also add the addition of protofloc aswell (I have it just forgot to put it in the recipe). Input appriciated :thumb:

Looks good to me - good yeast choice :thumb: ( I would probably double the hops  - thats just me though)

Good luck with your number two :thumb:

So to celebrate the fact I only have a SCALY WORT and DO NOT have skin cancer (WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  ) I have decided to get this done today. All equipment cleaned HLT on so im off to weigh grains and hops out. Will be a bit hecktic as I have nothing prepaired in advance. Here we go AG#2.

OK problem number 1. I have got the mash on (11.30 @ 67.2C) taken hop packets out of freezer to weigh hops out and there is no print left on the packs so I dont know which is Fuggles & which is E.K Goldings. So im going to do 1 pot (25g) full 90 then the 2nd pot (25g) last 15 so this could have Fuggles full 90 E.K Goldings last 15 or the other way round hope if its EK Golding full 90 and Fuggles last 15 it wont make to big a difference.

Got the Boil on so time for a cuppa and post some pic,s.
This is what 2500g Maris Otter, 150g Chocolate Malt & 150g Crystal Malt look like.

And this is how it looks when you have added 7lts of hot water.
Mashon.jpg

Im still loosing too much tep during the Mash (mash on at 67.2 mash out at 64.4) I think it could be the fact im useing a 24ltr mash tun for small mashes. Will see if that improves when I get my new smaller tun up and running (how many brewers go smaller :D )

Now while the mash was on we had a little Hop problem. When I took the packets out the freezer the print on them had gone so how about a quick game of spot the Hop. One is 25g of Fuggles the other is 25g of E.K Goldings. I have no idea which is which.

1st runnings 1.072 @ 50C

Final runnings 1.004 @ 53C

In go the Mystery Hops (could be Fuggles could be E.K Goldings) for the final 15.

Last time with AG#1 I missed my target by a whole 10lts. Well im getting better only missed by 3.5lts this time :D

So here it is 15lts of Belchford 2010
15Lt.jpg

After Liquering back we ended up with 15lts at 1.042 so we hit the gravity if nothing else.

Looks like you`ve had a fun day - apart from spot the hop  It`ll turn out to be a cracking beer and you`ll spend years trying to replicate it :wha:

Honestly the fuggles were on the left. Don't ask how I know But I would of placed money on it :D

In that case ive used E.K Goldings for 90 and Fuggles for last 15 so it will be a little higher in bitterness and a little lower on aroma. Oh well I dont care I made it and it's going to be great anyway :D

Yes :D

Although not quite like that, what I would say has happened there is that you got a lot of cold/hot break transferred over and that has stuck together and trapped some CO2 . . . and is now sat just under the surface of the beer daring you to try and syphon it out.
