More to follow shortly!

Cool - let me know how the yeast performs. Haven't used mine yet.

Will do, this is the first use of it! ive grown it to about double so it should have no trouble getting straight off!

Looks good! What is amber malt like in a brew like this? I've never used it, and I'm planning my next grain order :)

This is my first usage of Amber. It smells beautiful, really malty but a lot sweeter than crystal!

Looking good Carl :thumb:

Hope the rest of your day goes smoothly

How are you sparging is that a spiny?

Managed to get 1.044 gravity. Little but under be still happy!

Pitched WLP037 at 1300hrs now will leave it to ferment for 2weeks at 20c

Carl / Kev,

I've just used Yorkshire Square for the 1st time at the weekend ( 1st time AG )

Yes - a madman - never used liquid before and a crust you could nearly walk on formed overnight in less than 8 hours !

I'm going to be keeping an eye on this one. I like a pint of black sheep and was thinking of getting this yeast but LHBS has run out. Looks like a very successful brew day!

I made a 1 pint starter and after pitching it was actively fermenting within an hour! It's still got a bit of krausen on top and bubbling every so often.
I've been using liquid yeasts now for about 8 months and find them so much better than dried. Others would disagree but that's my opinion. This is the first use of Yorkshire sq so I'm excited about the results! Still deciding what to enter at the spring thing, may be this if it turns out well!

I'm intrigued by you're choice of hops, Carl. I use N Brewer for bittering, not for flavour/aroma. Do you get a good hoppy nose from it? I love it for bittering 'cos it give a clean taste.

I was a "styowdunt" (I think that's how you pronounce it) in Leeds in the early '80s. Every other pub was Tetley's. Has Leeds turned it's back on Tetley's since they turned their back on Leeds?

BTW you could see Elland Road football ground from the house where I was born. I support Liverpool.

It's still in the fermenter so I don't know how it's turned out yet. Never used N.brewer before so eager to try this!

Leeds has changed a lot. Tetleys brewery has closed down now and most pubs seem to do Leeds brewery or local brewery's with is really good! Some really good pubs in Leeds now!

Hi Carl,

I'm now at the end of Day 8 of the Yorkshire Square ferment and I've still got loads of tiny pin-prick bubbles breaking the surface. SG down to 1.011.

How's yours behaving ?

Cheers

It was still bubbling away on sat but I've not checked the gravity. I always leave for 14 days min before doing anything with it! Ill be Kegging on sat so will update then!
