Sunday (weather allowing!!) will be a brewday

I plan to do a 46litre honey ale soon so thought I`d try a 23litre honey brew first - seen a few honey brewdays on the forum and they all look great, time to find out how they taste ;) I`ve also been trying to make a brew thats not to strong - whenever I aim for a lower % the yeast keeps going and I keep getting 5% plus brews - not a problem really but i`m going for around 4% with this one!

Golden Blossom

3kg Pale malt
300g amber malt
300g crystal malt
400g honey - added after boil

40g cascade - 90mins
25g first gold - 10mins
10g cascade - 10mins
10g first gold -1 min
15g williamette - 30min steep at 80 degrees
15g first gold - 30min steep at 80 degrees

expected OG:1040
expected FG:1010
IBU:45.2
SRM:12.1
expected ABV:4%

Normal water treatment and will be using US-05 so finger crossed for sunshine tommorrow!

Grain bill good to go - there`s a few brewing tommorrow so good luck with it everyone :thumb:
Time for a few :drink: :drink: :drink:

Up early for the grand prix, alemans brewday stream and my own brew

Quite a lot of distractions today then  brew about 30mins into the boil
Mash tun looked empty with only 3.6kg of grain in it - will easily do double this recipe ;)

I lost a little more temp than normal - over 1 degree, probably due to small amount of grain, note to self: Always fill the tun with grain

will weigh out the honey and tidyup - back later :thumb:

All done and cooled and US-05 pitched (quick prayer please clear  )
2nd and 3rd hops and steep hops all added, left and then strained before tidy up and then added the honey which I melted with some boiling water and added to the strained wort :thumb:

Final length was a little short so back liquored to 23litres - giving me a final gravity of 1036 :D Happy with this as i`m sure it`ll ferment further than 1010 - probably at least 1006 which will give me approx 4%

Happy Easter :drink:

Would liked to have seen the bunny in more abstract ways...
But other than that, good brew ;)

Looks great! Do most UK brewers open ferment? With all the fruit flies around here, I'm pretty sure I'd end up with 5 gallons of malt vinegar.

I stick the lid on and just crack it open - pretty new to brewing but i`m sampling up to AG number 11 and all good so far :thumb: I think some of the guys use an airlock and blow off tube etc, I use an airlock for wine though

:drink:
