Adding raspberries

I put a kilo of thawed frozen raspberries in my 21 litres of wheat beer. Added them when I moved the brew to the secondary and left them for two weeks. I put them in a muslin bag and weighted it down.
What do you mean by secondary, if using a kit such as Mangrove Jacks??

Secondary fermentation vessel. Ferment in your primary vessel once fermentation has stopped transfer to secondary and add raspberries.
Once the main fermentation stage has finished some people like to rack (transfer) the beer into another fermentation vessel (FV) for a while before they rack into bottles or kegs. In general they are giving the beer time to clear without it sitting on that thick gloopy stuff in the bottom of the fermenter called trub (pronounced troob). They do this most often because they worry the trub might introduce off flavours.
Many people don’t bother with secondary FVs and don’t worry about the trub at all. Some only use secondary FVs for things that sit conditioning for a long time before kegging. This is all a matter for personal choice.

I went for 100g raspberries per litre.
Added the raspberries straight to the FV after about a week of fermentation
I pasteurised them before adding (by heating to 80C for 10 mins). This also helped mush them up a bit.
Came out lovely.
Edit: I used 100g raspberries per litre, not 200g.

In 21 of wort litres that would be 4.2kg of rasperberries. Is this correct? Does it seem a lot?
Yes sorry you are right. Typo. I used 100g raspberries per litre, so 800g in my 8L batch.
So, I will need 2.1kg

Just rechecked my recipe it was 1 kilo in a 10 litre batch.
I dumped 2.5kg frozen straight into FV. gently as I could of course and left for 10 days.. great result. they work really well

I did the Greg Hughes variant just before Christmas and did little more than thaw 3kg of raspberry overnight and chuck them into the primary (23L) for 7 days. Came out good though 2 or 3 days extra may have been called for.
Gonna do a mixed berry philly sour one now using 4kg and give the berries a bit of a mash with my hands before emptying the packs into a hop bag. Just using frozen from tesco for convenience. Seems easy enough, dont overthink this one :)
