Hi all I've been brewing kits for a while but I want to add raspberries to an iPa kit I have thought the best way to do it would be to brew the iPa as normal and when the fermentation stops use frozen raspberries blended and sieved and just add them and this will then start a secondary fermentation is this the right way to do it? Thanks for the help in advance.

I have never done this, but you may want to add a crushed campden tablet to th raspberry blend before adding it, to kill any wild yeast or other bacteria.

I've been reading a little about this and it seems Pectic destroying enzyme is also used when adding fruit? Its removes the haze to help clear the beer... Some fruits have more pectic that others so maybe look into this. I brewed up a beer using soured cherry's and had to add 1 tsp to my 3 gallon during primary fermentation

Hope this helps !

When I made my elderberry stout I extracted the juice and boiled it and added it to the wort prior to fermentation. However there is a second school of thought which suggests adding the fruit to the beer once it has fermented. Obviously fermentation would affect the flavour of the fruit.

I think when I do it again I would add to the wort and ferment it all.

I do agree if you are doing a pale beer you will have to add pectolase 1tsp per gallon otherwise you will have cloudy beer.

Ok thanks guys I'll think I'll add it to the wort then I'll let you know how it turns out thank you for the help :)

I'd personally be a bit cautious about adding fruit to a hoppy beer, I've tried a couple of examples and they have all be very bad.
