Hi,

Well i have got the bits for the above modification. I haven't got the QMax, although i remember using these making car panels in my college days and will have to aquire one.

How did you get the 15mm copper pipe connections done? Did you buy the items and solder them or did you use a solvent to glue the olives to the pipe? I dont have a friendly plumber that i know locally so im looking at other options.

did u buy the ss mashtun with the tap on if so the conversion is simple they were on the french ebay 38.5 litre thermo box with a drainage tap.

No, i brought a vessel without one - so i have copper/brass connections ready, need to get a Qmax for the hole and I just need 2 pieces of 15mm copper pipe. Just wandered if anyone had used the epoxy method of sealing the olive on the pipes or did they use solder.

I'm in the process of contacting the landlords handyman as im sure he could make the pipes.

Don't know if I am being stupid here but if you have olives then surely you are using compression fittings which just require tightening with a spanner, surely there is no need for solder or any adhesives when using compression fittings. :?

axactly what I was going to say

The Olives go on the end of the 15mm pipe, they are either soldered or epoxy can be used. I dont have these attached to the pipe or infact the pipes made up. My question was if anyone has used epoxy to bond the olives to their pipes.

You don't need solder.

You don't need epoxy.

You don't need solvents.

You don't need glue.

If you're not using compression joints, you don't need olives.

If you are, then the olive itself IS the sealing mechanism. As you tighten the joint up, the olive compresses onto the pipe, into the joint and provides the seal.

Come on fess up what did you think an olive was ;)

Well I am half Italian...so.... I actually always thought that they were soldered into place, but admit i have never used these type of fittings before.

It was produced by Vossy ...which inspired the majority of us to build our own SS Brewery's ;) ) There are photo's and easy to follow instructions to help you :thumb:

Thanks Highway.
