I've been searching the net for a red ale recipe, but I haven't found any that use the grains I have.

I have eventually decided to make an approximation of one, but lacking the munich malts (or a vienna malt that crops up as an alternative to munich) I've instead decided on something similar-ish, but clearly not the same!

4200g Marris Otter Pale Malt
300g Crystal Malt
200g Smoked Malt
50g Chocolate Malt

Hops I'm undecided on, but thanks to MarkP's generosity I have loads to choose from, so will probably try some cascade and challenger, although not certain about that.... :hmm:

The Irish Red Ales use melanoidin malt. I used 200g in my last batch of house ale and it has given it a lovely red hue

Your recipe looks great. Hope it goes well. :thumb:
