I was speaking to a friend today over a glass of "Cocker Hoop". I remember him mentioning before that his grandfather was a Kentish hop farmer. Apparently he grew avariety called Celebration. I can't seem to find any information about it, or if it is still grown.
Does anyone know anyting about it. If it is no lomger available what might br an equivalent. I'd love to try to brew something using this hop or other hops as a homage to it.

At the beginning of the 20th century, national hop acreage had fallen to 32,000 acres. It's now down to a sad 1,500 acres. I think the chances of the Celebration hop still being cultivated, must be nil.

Wye College closed down about 5 years, I don't know if there's a list of all the cultivars they experimented with. There's a seed bank somewhere, maybe linked to Kew Gardens? I doubt whether there's a list of their plant seeds - freely available.

Come on you lot..... drink more beer.... the Hops need you.
