I have done a couple of wilkos deep red and merlot kit but neither of them resembled what i would call red wine, very light in colour and more of a white wine rose taste. Me and Mrs like casillero del diablo, has anyone done a kit thats similar to this

If you find one let me know - I like a proper red too (12+%). :)

The Wilco kit is not a deep red and the the merlot content is very small. For little extra cost, the Cellar 7 is much better but the abv is only about 11%. You can boost this to 12 by adding 500 g of sugar.

I've made the California connoisuer Rioja which turned out very well, would defo make it again, it came out at about 11.8%. I think it was around £42 of ebay with free delivery.

Beaverdale do some good ones. Little expensive though.

Butler's wine kits aren't bad although I did a bold red and it was more like a dark rose :-(
