hello,

with the risk of being a proverbial pain in the bum, i have a couple questions!!

1.my lager brew has been in the fermenting bin for 9 days now, the hydrometer reading yesterday & today is the same (1.010) but the brew is still only slightly cloudy. is this normal/is it ok to bottle or do you wait for total clearness?

2.if i were to start a second brew after i have emptied my fermenting bin, how long can a brew be left in a fermenting bin? i am thinking perhaps i could bottle my first brew, start a new one and leave it in the fermenting bin then bottle it as when bottles become empty.

any advice would be good.

thankyou

Just my opinion, but...

1. It's fine to bottle while still a little cloudy, it'll clear in due course have no fear! Or you could move to your secondary fv and allow to clear / add finings if you're worried... but I wouldn't be fussed about that.
2. Not really practical unless you're planning on dowing the first brew pretty fast, you need to do something with your second brew, I've left it up to three weeks when crisis dictated but then bottled all together on the hurry up. You can't startpriming and bottling in stages in my view, way too many risks of infection or other cardinal sins which will ruin your beer.
