Hope this is OK here in "General Home Brew Equipment Discussion". If not, please can it be moved appropriately?

I have an old brown demijohn, which I'd like to make some sloe gin in, from sloes I froze a month or two ago. The top has an external screw thread. I have no cap for it!

Can I get a new cap from somewhere (it's anout 40 years old, at a guess), or make one, or put some thing in to bung it? I haven't got any solid bungs (and the opening's a bit small), and don't want to affect the taste of the sloe gin, or allow the alcohol to evaporate.

Any suggestions?

Use a balloon to cover it thigh make a pin hole in it before using it. This will keep any airborne nasties from getting in and getting in and let the co2 release.

There is no CO₂. I'm making sloe gin! :)

Edit: Actually, I am making sloe gin, and have about 600g of blueberries to make blueberry gin, too, which I shall probably make in a large screw-topped wine bottle, after the Chinese Kilner jar debacle of some while ago.
