Hi,

Has anyone tried the Falconers 7C's hop blend (Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Citra, Cluster, Columbus, and Crystal)?

I'm waiting for a Maltmiller delivery but decided I want to brew an american IPA this weekend and the hop selection at the homebrew shop is limited.

Was thinking the following:

10l batch

2.5kg lager malt
250g carahell

10g Magnum (60 mins)
25g 7cs (10 mins)
25g 7cs steep at 80c (10mins)
50g Simcoe (dryhop)

50IBU approx
Us-05 yeast

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Not used the blend but have used most of the hops in it, there the classic US hops that would go in an APA/AIPA Your recipe looks fine but why not use the 7c for the dry hop to?

I recently made an APA with cascade and centennial only and wasn't too keen on the harsh earthy flavour I got. To be fair it could have been an off flavour as I have usually gone towards hops such as citra / simcoe / amarillo for american ales, so haven't had much experience with the classic "c" hops.

If 7Cs is the same as Falconers Flight then I’ve used it quite a few times to great success. I use it as a “single hop” in my APA.

I've done one brew with falconer's Flight. ..really good! My next order will have some on. Iirc I bittered with Apollo,a late addition and flame out and dry hop with FF.
