Well they can bog off :p I much prefer 50p a bottle.

Hi, my name is Del, I took up homebrewing around the time my daughter was born, and have been brewing on and off since then.

I probably ask myself "Can I brew that?" in the region of 5 times a day. I've brewed tea, dandelions, elderflower, strawberry (tesco selling 400gram tubs for 10p each, back of the net), apple & vanilla, rice, rooibos and peppermint.

I have a youngs definitive bitter to brew, and am looking forward to a summer of cheap wines and beers with no chemical tasting heartburn.

I do my utter best to keep my prices low, I'm also looking for advice on mail order kit, as the nearest serious seller is in Hereford (an hours drive). I hope to stick around as the board and people seems very friendly and helpful.

You can make some great wines for 50p. Check out the wine named WOW. Its Wurzels Orange Wine and works out about the same price. Its a forum favourite and tastes great.

Here is the link to the famous brew

Thank you. I had a look at the links, certainly will be useful. As luck would have it though, my local healthfood shop has massively expanded their range of homebrewing supplies.

Thanks for the wow recommendation, my only questions are can I get away without using the glycerine and substituting the tannin for a tea bag?

Also, is there any reason to make wine without using fruit tea bags? Is there anything I'm missing by doing it this way?

The glycerin is not a necessity but it really does help produce a much smoother wine. If you can't find it locally at your homebrew shop, most chemists will stock it at a fraction of the price compared to anywhere else.

The fruit teabags make great wines with the addition of red grape juice and there are quite a few combinations that can be made by using them. Normal teabags are fine as a tannin substitute and a lot of forum members use them also.

Cheers mate, I got the glycerine, its cough mixture right? I haven't been adding juice to my drinks (before now) as I avoided using my hydrometer like the plague as I don't quite understand it. I will be using it with the wow though.

Thanks again.
