Got a 50L thermobox coming next week from Nordic, anyone know the exact inside diameter?
Mates making me a SS one with 3mm holes on his firms laser cutting machine :D
Will 1.5 stainless adequate for the job or will I get away with summat thinner? :hmm:

Thanks'
BB

Hi BB

just measured mine (50 ltr), I make it 396 or 397mm diameter (sorry, the lighting in my attic isn't that wonderful!)

MD made my false bottom and it came with the tun. It's cut a little smaller than that and a split tube around the outside to make it a snug fit.

Sorry guy's each one is cut per the tun as I have had some differences in sizes, so I always measure then cut, but yeah 400mm sounds right to me

the site says 450mm diameter and my 38 and 70 ones have a wall thickness of about 25mm so 400mm would be a tight fit indeed

If my mate cuts the false bottom in one piece will it go to the bottom or will it need to be split like the ones MD sells?
Think I'll go for 395mm, any thumbs up on this? :hmm:

It will go to the bottom no problems. Can't help with the diameter though, I've got a 60l (I think).

Thanks' for the info lads, the build has started :D :D :D
