I had some new (to me) beers at the great queen street restaurant in London which as well as doing very interesting British food, has a great list of bottled beers from breweries in and around London.
The first was London fields 3 Weiss monkeys, a White ipa. Basically an IPA recipe brewed with a Hefeweizen yeast. Nice, too. Not overpowering on the hops, presumably so the yeast didn't get drowned out, but it was very fresh and lemony. Strangely given the yeast and that it was bottle conditioned it wasn't that cloudy even with rousing the yeast. Consequently there wasn't a huge amount of classic Weiss flavour, but just enough to make it interesting. I'd definitely drink it again. Sessionable at 4. something, too.
The Brewing by numbers quince saison was less enjoyable, nothing essentially bad about it but nothing amazing. Hats off for trying something different to the standard IPA formula that's ubiquitous now. It was lemony too, with an earthiness that I put down to the quince. It also has spices in though I couldn't really discern them. Now I'm no saison expert so it might be a great example of the style but while ok just wasn't that memorable.
They have a beer list online but it changes quite often and they don't always have the same stuff in.
If you're looking for a good London eaterie which also has good beer id recommend this place.
