I have 3 Ritchie plastic barrels for sale. I no longer use them as I switched to Cornelius kegs some time ago and I need the storage space. These barrels are pretty unique and are no longer manufactured. They were top of the plastic keg range when they were made. They are different to other plastic barrels in that they lie horizontally in use instead of the normal upright arrangement that is only seen today. As such, they simulate much more closely the traditional wooden beer kegs of old. All three come with taps, screw lids and S30 CO2 valves. All taps are fitted with scavenger tubes to drain the barrel with very little ullage. In addition, they each hold just over 6.25 gallons (28.5L) instead of the more usual 5 gallons or 23L. Two of the barrels are fitted with pressure gauges and cask breathers in their lids alongside a S30 valve. The other one just has the screw lid fitted with the S30 valve. They are in full working order with no damage and are very clean. All they need is a quick sterilise before use. Complete with instruction sheet. Pictures below:

Price each for the two with the S30 valve, cask breather and pressure gauge is £25 each. The barrel with the S30 only in the lid is £20. If you want all three the price is £60 for the lot. These are quite bulky, so the buyer must collect. However, if you live in the southern Home Counties or south of the Thames in Greater London I may be able to deliver them for free if you are not in a rush. I am based in Beckenham, London Borough of Bromley. Please pm me if interested or want more details.

Hi there,

Are these still for sale? I'm looking into ways of dispensing a bunch of beer for my wedding and these look great! Given the S30 valves, what level of carbonation can you maintain with these?

Thanks!

James

Yes - they are still for sale. The valves can take up to 15 psi, but you don't need to go that high for a decent carbonation to the beer. As a matter of fact, I used all three to brew beer for my daughter's wedding some time ago! Send me a pm if you are interested in buying them and we will make arrangements.
