I've had it brewing for more than three weeks. Whilst it's still producing some gas I reckon tomorrow I'll find the sg has steadied at 1.018 from 1.042.

Should I expect a little more from it?

I had to remove about 1/3 of the krausen head as I wasn't prepared for the mega explosion that occured. I've since read up on it though, sod's law.

Thoughts please.

it should go a little lower than that, i think mines was closer 4.5%.i used 1kg dark spraymalt. give it a gentle stir with a sanitised spoon. have you kept it at a steady temp? just to whet your appetite!

it should go lower than that i brewed mine at 20litres and it dropped down to 1007/ 5.2 percent or there abouts so i would image that a full brew would go a bit lower than what you have said your reading is at , so a would leave it another 3-5 days to be sure hope this helps :thumb:

What temp has yours been fermenting at?

I made mine to 20 litres, fermented with 1.5kg dark dme and 500g muscavado sugar. The OG was 1.060, and was brewed on 23/02/2012. Today, transferred to secondary FV (as I was a little worried about problems of the water in the water bath being infected and causing problems when opening to check due to the spew that came out whilst fermenting :p). The SG of the brew at that time was 1.013.

My brew's been brewing at around 22'c. According to the coopers instructions, said to brew between 21 and 28, and on the instructions I was following, it said to keep as close to 21'c as poss... So, if your's has been at less, might be why it's taking longer?!
