Am I right to think that both 'London' and 'Yorkshire' threads are no longer that common, and most pubs/installations will not be on 3/4 BSP?

Obviously its only the hose tail and cask tap that effect this thread. But as I am setting up a new (small, private) installation I might as well pick the most common.

are you using casks and a beer engine? if so the feed to the beer engine is generally 1/2" pvc tube friction fitted onto the cask tap. for kegs with sankey type couplers the connection is generally 1/2" bsp but if you have sourced US couplers(ebay) they can also have a 5/8" bsp/ntp thread, and the 5/8" to 3/8" jg connectors for connecting to 3/8" ldpe gas/beer line are quite tricky to source
 
Casks, on there side with cask-taps, which appear come in one of the above three.

I'm not brewing, just buying Firkins/Pins from.the local breweries.

Appears my Harry Mason cabinet oumos pumps have a y-thread on the bass but I can choose what I have on the other end by buying whatever taps / fittings suit.
