Just curious before I go ahead & use it- I made up a mash tun manifold using grey 22mm plastic pipe & speedfit connectors-is this stuff safe to use in a mash tun?

Yes,agreed-but I am using it as a manifold-the inner core yes,but what of the outer core & at mashing temperature?
The pipe that carries the water supply into my house doesn't deal with water temps of 68'c,nor does it have slits cut in it!
Sorry if it seems a dumb question but I am not a plumber & plastic seemed an easier alternative to work with-if it's not safe I have built a prototype & will rebuid in copper.

It would be food safe as it has to be if used in domestic houses , your house boiler will have hot water and as far as cutting into it goes , well the plumber has to cut it then fit fittings onto it to use it for your house etc .

I am not sure what make your pipe is but here is an extract from the Polyplumb Certificate available HERE. It is designed to withstand max operating temps of 100c with failure at 114C. You are never likely to go near 114 unless you are using steam cleaning under pressure. The inner core layer is the same as the outer layer.

1 Description
1.1 Polyplumb PB Barrier Pipe is manufactured from
polybutylene (PB) and is grey in colour. It is available in
the four sizes given in Table 1. The pipe consists of five
layers: PB/adhesive/ethylene vinyl alcohol
(EVOH)/adhesive/PB.
Table 1 Pipe dimensions
nominal outside dimension (mm) 10 15 22 28
minimum wall thickness (mm) 1.5 1.7 2.0 2.6
1.2 In the middle of the pipe wall is an oxygen
diffusion barrier of between 0.09 mm and 0.20 mm
thick. This barrier is an EVOH polymer layer with hot
melt adhesive layers on either side of the barrier.
