Good afternoon,

My 1st go at home brew so some advice needed from you good people if you please.
I have a Youngs Brewbudy Bitter kit on the go now for 10 days. Have a 1cm cake at he bottom of the fv, and all the signs at the top of a good ferment. OG was around the 1.040 mark, and at the moment it reads 1.012. If it stays stable the next 2 days, on the 2 week mark I am going to, (now heres were i need to know if this is an acceptable method)

1. Crash cool outside for 1 week. (Its a balmy 3 Degrees C at the moment)
2. Return indoors and let the fv stand for a few hours, before adding primer and bottling.
3. Store for 1 week at room temp (20 C)
4. Retrun to shed for 3 weeks to condition.

I know there will be different opinoins, but after trawling the forums for 10 days, this seems to be a good option?
Thanks for any advice.

p.s. I had a taste from the hydrometer test and it tased,,,,,,,well,, like flat warm beer, with a slightly bitter aftertaste so i think it should turn out well, fingers crossed.

pps. I used 1 kilo of Muntons brew enhacer instead of brewing sugar

Hi , you should transfer the brew to a clean fv when bottling otherwise if you add sugar to the brew and stir it up you'll mix up all the crap which means you've wasted your time with the cold week outside (that is done so more yeast and sediment falls out of the beer . So yes what you said to do is fine , you just either need to get a spare fv or don't prime fv , you'll have to prime keg/bottles instead .

I would store at room temprature for a minimum of 10 day and preferably 2 weeks to get a full carbonation.
After 1 week my brews have started to carb up but after 2 weeks they are fully carbed.

I know this as i drink them from 1 week old
