1st AG double check me

Hi all
Going to be doing my 1st AG this week, St Austell Tribute. Am I right in thinking that if I use the false bottom I don't need to worry about the hop spider when adding the hops, just through them in at the right time?
My plan was to mash with 19l, sparge up to 26l then boil. Does this sound ok?
Anyone with any experience with the brewdevil recommend power settings?

The Brewdevil looks like a lot of other All-in-One systems available. I doubt that 26L pre-boil will get you much more than 19L in the FV, as there are dead space losses as well.

The power settings are in principle very easy on these systems, in that the only time you use the low power setting is during the mash. This is in order to keep the temps fairly stable during this critical part of the process.

As you will almost certainly have done the brew by now, let us know how it went!

I have a Brewster Beacon and mash with 19L and it recommends sparging to 29L and it works for me but I don't know what losses your system has. I usually use a hop spider but decided to throw the hops in on the last brew I did and it was ok but I'm switching back to the spider next brew as the bottom filter was caked and it was struggling to pump the wort to the FV.

Banbeer is correct I mash with 19l and sparge with 13 ltrs which gives me 28ltrs to boil with after grain absorption loss to get a final 22/23 ltrs mind you I only boil for 45 mins now and not 60 mins hence 28 and not 29

Brewed today and got 20.5l in fv.
One thing i need to look at is how to measure the volume before the boil!! Had to guess the 26-27l!! False bottom worked well and pumped out to fv.

Im assuming there's no markings on the inside to let you know how much water is in there

You could use a measuring jug or empty bottle and gradually fill and mark yourself or if you don't want to mark the kettle use a dip stick

I use a one concept brew boiler and your figures are the similar what I use. As long as I sparge to 28l I'm usually left with about 22l of usable wort. I have the power settings to 2500w to boil and drop to 1500w for a rolling boil. One thing that throws me out a bit is the expansion of water when it's hot this used to throw my figures out as when it cooled I was left with less than I thought. So I ignore to a certain extent the markings on the boiler.
