Hey i am only 19 and live at home. I am the only member of my family who likes ale and beer at all so have no need to brew 5 gallon batches. I have been looking into brewing simple 1 gallon batches of all grain beer. I understand all of the processes involved and have all the equipment necessary. However all recipes i find are for 5 gallons or more. Can i simply divide a 5 gallon recipe by 5 in order to make 1 gallon?

You don't have to drink it all at once. Bottle it and drink it at your leisure :) I've not tried AG brewing yet but, for the effort involved, you might as well brew as much as you can and store it. Otherwise you'll be brewing every other week!

You could always get the durden park book, all their recipes are in 1 gallon quantities.

Dividing a 5 gal recipe by 5 will also do it.

But for the amount of effort to do an ag brew i would do 5 gal a time and bottle or keg it, it lasts ages.
