I did my first AG at the weekend (so this is day 5) and hadn't heard much activity from the airlock (because my temp probe is sharing a hole in the lid with the airlock) so I thought I'd take a gravity reading.

Opened the FV and didn't really need to take a reading due to the beery smell. However, the top of my beer looked like nothing my kits ever did.

It's probably just the end of the krausen subsiding combined with some stray hop pellets, but I'm a bit paranoid because I had troubles cleaning my FV (it stank of beer when I took it out the shed 2 weeks ago and it took me about 3 attempts to get the smell away - which I eventually managed using about a 1:4 bleach:water solution) and I wasn't sure how to clean my wort chiller (all I did was run a couple of kettles of boiling water over it, although the heat of the wort should have killed anything too).

What do you think? It is a pretty rubbish picture but it's the best I could do from inside my brew cupboard. Those things that look like mold spores are more like bubbly bits of wort.

Bit hard to tell but there's nothing there I would be too concerned about. Mould tends to look more like a skin. That looks like hop debris and yeast flocculating
